Lee Biosolutions Creatine Kinase MB Isoenzymes and cardiac markers available

October 11, 2006; ST. LOUIS Lee Biosolutions is now offering native human creatine kinase mb isoenzyme and recombinant creatine kinase MB (CKMB) isoenzymes to the clinical research community at LeeBio.com.
Creatine kinase MB is a cardiac marker produced primarily in the heart. Elevated levels of creatine kinase in the bloodstream are indicative of heart damage, probably due to a heart attack. Creatine Kinase MB isoenzyme has also been found effective in determining whether or not clot-dissolving drugs are working. CK-MB isoenzyme levels are one of a number of blood tests typically administered to patients presenting with chest pain.
CKMB is one of a number of substances found in the blood that are helping researchers predict, diagnose and treat heart attacks better than ever before, Lee Biosolutions President Burton Lee said. Researchers use these materials to advance their understanding of the critical role they play in heart-related illness.
Lee Biosolutions offers creatine kinase MB derived from the human heart, as well as lab created recombinant CKMB. In addition, the company has a variety of creatine kinase based products for other research purposes as well.
Additional products in Lee Biosolutions cardiac market line include myoglobin , C-reactive protein, Myeloperoxidase, Troponin , other Creatine kinase isoenzymes and lipoproteins. Some markers are more conclusive than others, but all are indicative at some level of a heart attack.
Within 3-6 hours following a heart attack, creatine kinase MB isoenzyme levels will begin to rise. The levels will typically peak within 24 hours. As a result, CKMB is very reliable indicator of recent heart attack, but is essentially ineffective at diagnosing a heart attack that has occurred more than a day before the test. For this reason, the test is widely used in emergency care.
