May 24, 2006; St. Louis, Missouri, Lee Biosolutions has recently begun carrying a variety of polyclonal antibodies
The available polyclonal antibodies include Albumin, Alpha Amylase, Alpha-1-Acid Glycoproteins, Alpha-1-Antitrypsin, Alpha-2-Macroglobulin, Beta-2-Microglobulin, Alpha-fetoproteins, C-reactive proteins, Ceruloplasmin, IgA, Ferritin, Elastase, Haptoglobin, Kappa, Lactate Dehydrogenase , Lactoferrin, Lambda, Luciferase, Myeloperoxidase, Retinol Binding Proteins, Transferrin, Whole Serum, C3 and C4. The polyclonal antibodies Lee Biosolutions sells are derived from goats, chickens, rabbits and sheep.
polyclonal antibodies are produced by the immunization of mammals. An antigen is injected into the mammal, which induces the B-lymphocytes to produce IgG immunoglobulin specific for the antigen. The IgG is then purified by mixing the mammals spleen cells with mutant myeloma cells, fusing them together and producing cells which can survive on HAT medium. The surviving colonies are separated and the desired antibodies are removed from each colony.
