ALPHA 1 ACID GLYCOPROTEIN Research: ALPHA 1 ACID GLYCOPROTEIN (a1AG; AGP) is an Acute Phase protein. Reduced serum ALPHA 1 ACID GLYCOPROTEIN levels are mainly associated with impaired liver function but can also occur in vitamin A deficiency and conditions in which protein is being lost from the blood. ALPHA-1-ACID GLYCOPROTEIN (a1AG) (AGP) increased level (in parallel to increases in haptoglobin) is suggestive of inflammation. ALPHA 1 ACID GLYCOPROTEIN (a1AG) (AGP) levels rise before those of haptoglobin therefore this test can be useful in determining the chronology of inflammatory processes.
Alpha-1 acid glycoprotein (AGP, AAGP) is an immunosuppressive factor found in ascites from ovaria carcinoma.
Alpha 1 acid glycoprotein (orosomucin) (A1AG) is a major serum glycoprotein of unknown physiological function. alpha-1-acid glycoprotein (A1AG) has been implicated in cellular inflammation by increasing tissue factor expression and tumour necrosis factor alpha secretion of monocytes. Alpha-1-acid glycoprotein (A1AG) protein is associated with five asparaginyl-linked complex oligosaccaride chains, the proportions and identities of which are altered in several physiological and pathological conditions (2) alpha 1 acid glycoprotein (A1AG) is also clinically important as a non-specific drug binder in serum.
