Lee Biosolutions is seeking high caliber, dynamic and motivated Interns for 2018. You will work under the guidance of an experience manager and mentor. Your projects will involve working in a laboratory setting where we purify native enzymes and related proteins for the clinical diagnostic industry and the opportunity to learn specific skills that can enhance your career. In addition to having specific assignments that could enhance your career goals you will be expected to clean dishes, keep work spaces organized and follow procedures. Successful candidates should be a full time student working toward a BS, MS or a PhD with a minimum 3.0 grade point average. We have both paid and unpaid Internships depending upon openings that are available and internships can last for a month, 3 months, 6 months or a year. Our internship program is designed to promote academic, career and personal development

Types of Interns and main focus.

High school interns – emphasis on communication and teamwork and working in a corporate environment with procedures.

Undergraduate students will intern in a job that is close or similar to their major and will be more scrutinized with their techniques and be given a specific project to complete

Graduate Students will intern in a job that is similar to their major and use their skills to do accomplish specific tasks and be able to demonstrate their accomplishments

Job Summary

The Senior Scientist provides technical and scientific leadership to support new product development, troubleshooting and optimization of process and analytical methods, and technical communications with customers and suppliers. Senior Scientists are expected to operate independently and within small groups, identify and implement new methods, equipment, and technologies and must effectively perform the following duties:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. New product development: evaluates published literature and provides technical and economic analysis of product feasibility, performs experimental work to develop, optimize, scale up, and validate new production or analytical procedures, creates documents (SOPs, protocols, reports) needed for implementation of the new processes, trains employees in correct performance of the new processes.

2. Troubleshooting and optimization: evaluates customer feedback, company experience, and published literature to understand the nature of the problem, develops and tests potential solutions, implements solutions by revising documents and training affected employees.

3. Technical communications: reviews and answers scientific and technical questions from customers, communicates with suppliers regarding technical issues, prepares technical content for data sheets, applications notes, and the website, prepares papers for publication in trade and scientific journals, prepares patent applications.

4. Identification and implementation of new technology. Reads scientific and trade journals, communicates with suppliers and sources of new technology, attends seminars, webinars, and other presentations to identify new methods, equipment, and technologies.

5. Assists other employees as necessary. Examples include protein purification and analysis, calibration and preventive maintenance of equipment and facility, and filling of orders.

6. Assures that all work is properly recorded and signed off in lab notebooks, batch records, worksheets, or other appropriate documents.

Skills

Education/Experience

PhD from an accredited college or university plus at least two years’ experience or master’s degree with at least seven years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Able to use routine chemistry formulas.

Lee Biosolutions is seeking a Protein Chemist - Level II with experience in purifying natural-sourced proteins and enzymes. Successful candidates must have a strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology or biological sciences with a BS and 3-5 yrs of industry experience.

Your skill set should be concentrated in protein isolation and purification utilizing classical methodologies that include Affinity, SEC, HPLC, Ion Exchange and Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography. You must be able to perform SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, ELISA assays, electrophoresis and to follow a complex assay protocols. It is a plus if you have experience in assay development, enzyme kinetics, and experimental design although most of your time will be production oriented. Lee Biosolutions is adding more personnel to its growing team and is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to work in our biochemistry lab. The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in science plus one years laboratory experience or a two year degree in science with 3-5 years experience. You must have practical skills in operation of standard laboratory equipment (pipette, balance, pH and conductivity meter, UV-VIS spectrophotometer and others). You must have practical skills in preparation of buffers and stock solutions from established formulas. You must be able to accurately dispense from milligram to gram quantities of biochemical product. You must have excellent organization and record keeping skills. Requirements include working with biological extracts from blood to animal tissue. A plus if you have practical experience with preventive maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.

As a Laboratory Assistant you will have to wash laboratory glassware, dispense biochemical products, prepare stock solutions and adjust pH , perform maintenance and calibration of refrigerators, freezers, incubators, balances, pipettes, spectrophotometers, thermometers and electrophoresis apparatus. You will be performing daily and monthly maintenance of automated clinical analyzers. You will be expected to perform standard preparations according to established procedures and assist chemists with extraction, centrifugation and chromatography. Please apply online.
