3 Little Birds 4 Life

Lee Biosolutions supports this organization because they are an incredible resource for young adult cancer patients between 18-40 years of age. Their mission is simple. It is to enhance the lives of young adult cancer patients one wish at a time. They help fill that void for the young adult who is now faced with many peaks and valleys while they travel the cancer journey by providing them the support and resources to help them through.

We have granted a with for a 37-year-old mother of two was recently diagnosed with brain cancer. Her prognosis is that she could survive six months or less. Her wish, made through the not-for-profit foundation 3 Little Birds 4 Life, was to take her family to Disney World. Michelle wants “to make amazing memories” for her husband Dan and their children, six-year-old Liliana and four-year-old Milo. Through its community outreach program, Lee Biosolutions is making Michelle’s wish come true, picking up the tab for the entire trip.

We also volunteer and in fact Lee Biosolutions employees volunteered to help build a deck for a young 24 year old cancer patient Annie, who was recently diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia.

Lee Biosolutions Inc, a U.S. manufacture of high purity finished proteins has increased production capacity for important enzymes used in liver function blood tests worldwide. The St. Louis-based healthcare- biotechnology firm has been able to keep up with demand for aminotransferase enzymes by increasing yields through newly developed purification methodologies.

The liver is not only the largest organ but the largest gland in the human body which plays an important role by filtering and processing blood as it circulates through the body. The functions of the liver include detoxification of your blood, production of important clotting factors and other proteins, processing nutrients, waste products of hemoglobin and storing vitamins, cholesterol and bile while also producing glucose. The cells in the liver contain proteins called enzymes that drive these chemical reactions. When the liver cells are damaged or destroyed, the enzymes in the cells leak out to the blood where they can be measured by blood tests. The liver function tests include measuring two main enzymes, Aspartate Aminotransferase called AST (GOT) and Alanine Aminotransferase ALT (SGPT) which when elevated is a strong sign of liver damage or disease.

According to Burton Lee, President of Lee Biosolutions, “The enzymes that are produced for liver function tests are actually isolated from porcine and bovine sources at our facility in St. Louis. Our production chemists process literally thousands of kgs of high quality tissue from USDA slaughter houses at a time in order to isolate and purify just a few hundred grams of a single enzyme. Careful monitoring of critical points in the process is needed to insure a stable high quality product. Our finished enzymes are then purchased under strict specifications by major IVD companies such as Bio-Rad Laboratories who produce the reagents and blood tests for hospitals to aid in the diagnoses if someone has alcoholic liver disease, viral hepatitis, and acute or chronic liver injury. Its very satisfying to know the products that you produce are helping save lives."

Lee BioSolutions Supplies D-Dimer , Key Component of Deep Vein Thrombosis Detection and Pulminary Embolism to major diagnostic companies worldwide

ST. LOUIS , MO Lee BioSolutions, an international manufacturer, producer and supplier of high purity proteins and antigens announces an increased in supply of D-Dimer protein. The St. Louis-based biotechnology firm recently developed a proprietary process to effectively and efficiently purify the marker for Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism. As a result, Lee is supplying bulk quantities of this critical components for thrombosis tests to major manufacturers for early detection of blood clots to prevent DVT.

According to the Centers of Disease and Control, CDC, , Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism affects up to 600,000 individuals in the US alone each and every year . What happens in the most serious of cases is Deep Vein Thrombosis or DVT when part of a blood clot breaks off in the leg and travels through the bloodstream to the lungs causing a blockage called pulmonary embolism. DVT/PLE shows no preference to age, gender or ethnicity and is one of those disorders that is repeatedly underdiagnosed causing serious illness, disability and even death. In fact 10% of individuals diagnosed with DVT will die within the first month of diagnosis because they were not treated early enough. With risk factors such as aging population , more sedentary habits among individuals and obesity , this disorder is becoming an important and growing public health concern.

Lee’s new D-Dimer production capabilities enables international diagnostics companies to quickly manufacture serum D-Dimer tests, which are affordable and easy to administer. Lee has scaled up production to meet global market demand.

“Lee Biosolutions is on the forefront of Coagulation disorders and Deep Vein Thrombosis research by supplying a highly purified clot dissolving substance call D-Dimer from human serum “ said Burton Lee, President of Lee Biosolutions . “ D-Dimer test is used for detecting increased D dimer in your blood is most useful for ruling out deep vein thrombosis or for identifying people at risk of recurrence. “

Lee Biosolutions is also involved with early detection of Diabetes with our new HbA1c and detection of Chronic Kidney Disease with cystatin C protein . We are all about saving lives with early detection of clinical diseases.

Saint Louis, MO Lee Biosolutions Inc, is an international manufacturer, producer and supplier of high purity biomarkers used in the prediction, prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases known as CVD. The St. Louis-based biotechnology health care firm has developed a unique proprietary process to effectively and efficiently purify Biochemical Biomarkers such as Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) and High Density Lipoprotein(HDL) from Human Plasma used by manufacturers of lipid profile blood tests. As a result, Lee is now is a preferred producer for clinical researchers and diagnostic companies around the world to supply these critical components .

According to the World Health Organization located in Switzerland, 30% of all global deaths are attributed to CVD which encompasses a group of disorders of the heart and blood vessel. These disorders include coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral arterial disease , rheumatic heart disease, congenital heart disease and deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.
Lee’s cholesterol products, Low Density Lipoprotein and High Density Lipoproteins are carefully isolated from human plasma and are supplied to international diagnostic companies to produce quality diagnostic tests for Cholesterol ,HDL,LDL and Triglycerides. As a result, Lee has hired additional scientists to meet global market demand.

Burton Lee , President of Lee Biosolutions says, Cholesterol itself is not a problem but its when you have high levels of cholesterol and LDL is when you run into trouble. Too many people think of cholesterol as something bad but in actuality you need cholesterol for the synthesis of vitamin D and hormones in your body. Cholesterol is needed to help with fat absorption molecules by converting to bile in your digestive tract. One way to manage your health is to get a lipid profile test and that’s where we come in. We are the supplier of these analytes that go into these blood tests. We also see another promising set of biomarkers that will be very popular for heart disease management and they are Pro-BNP and NT-proBNP which we are offering . “
